If you were displaced by Hurricane Ike or Gustav and have been receiving money directly from FEMA for rent payment, HUD has an IMPORTANT announcement. May 1st was the last rent payment you will receive directly from FEMA.
Through HUD’s Disaster Housing istance Program, you, however, can continue to get rental housing istance. Call the housing authority igned to you or HUD’s DHAP - Ike/Gustav Call Center toll-free at 1-866-785-3239. To get this istance, you MUST take action before May 31st. Again you must take action before May 31st. Call 1-866-785-3239.

Nevada Senator Harry Reid joined Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan to tour a Las Vegas neighborhood Wednesday. Las Vegas leads the nation in foreclosures and approximately 67 percent of the city’s current mortgage holders have mortgages that are higher than the worth of their homes. Secretary Donovan announced plans to deploy HUD Foreclosure Rapid Response Teams to ess the areas hardest hit by foreclosure — starting in Las Vegas. This is, “good news for Nevadans fighting to stay in their homes,” said Reid.
